Assystem at NPPES 2024: Sharing expertise and innovation for the future of nuclear power in Türkiye and the region

On 2 and 3 July 2024, Assystem took part in the 6th Nuclear Power Plants Expo and Summit (NPPES) in Istanbul. This annual event brought together key players in the nuclear sector, highlighting innovative visions, products and solutions for nuclear projects in Türkiye and the wider region.

Our experts shared their expertise in terms of engineering and project management services, as well as digital services during the two days of the exhibition, both on the Assystem stand and during the various official speeches at the exhibition:

  • Bariş Güner, Project Director and Senior Project Manager, presented the keynote: "Human Capacity Building for Nuclear & Importance for Newcomer Countries" highlighting that human resources and knowledge management will be of crucial importance in the coming decades to meet the requirements of emerging nuclear projects.
  • Onur Oztuncer, Director of Operations, took part in the round table: "Navigating the Future of SMRs" with a focus on Assystem's methodology and digital solutions for characterisation and site selection of small modular nuclear reactors.
  • Frédéric Chéneau, Business Development Director, took part in the "Nuclear Energy as Part of Central Asia's Energy Mix" round table, highlighting the importance of integrating nuclear energy into the energy mix, to meet rising local electricity consumption and combat climate change by replacing fossil fuels with low-carbon energies.

Our mission: Accelerating the energy transition worldwide

With nearly 60 years of nuclear expertise, Assystem is the partner of choice for the success of nuclear projects worldwide, whatever the technologies involved. In Türkiye, Assystem delivers site and impact studies, building permits and provides engineering and management services for complex energy and low-carbon infrastructure projects, including:

  • The Akkuyu project, for which Assystem has been conducting site characterisation studies, land and marine environmental impact analyses and continuous monitoring of this data since 2011. This is to ensure that the site remains compliant with standards and to detect any changes or potential problems in real time. Our experts are also inspecting the quality of systems, structures and components critical to nuclear safety at this future nuclear power plant.
  • The Sinop project: Assystem successfully completed an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) in accordance with local and international standards and regulations.
This event highlights Assystem's expertise and commitment to local and global energy transition projects. It is a unique opportunity to exchange and present our solutions and support offerings to our peers in order to boost and advance these projects in and around Türkiye.
