Assystem in the United Arab Emirates
The United Arab Emirates was one of the first countries to commit to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. To do so, the country plans, among other things, to reduce its electricity production's carbon footprint by 70%.
Our activities in The United Arab Emirates
To support the United Arab Emirates in its energy transition, Assystem is involved in several major energy and infrastructure projects.
Assystem provides its services to a wide range of Emirati customers, including public services such as municipalities, ministries, operators, etc. We provide them with engineering services as well as digital solutions and services.
To decarbonise its electricity production, the country is building its first nuclear power plant, consisting of four reactors with a capacity of 1,345MW each. Two reactors are already in operation and once completed, the power plant will provide 25% of the United Arab Emirates' energy needs. Assystem has been involved in this project's construction supervision since 2013.
The Emirati government seeks to capitalise on the country's climate and geography by harnessing solar energy. By 2050, solar power should account for 44% of the UAE’s electricity generation. Several solar power plant projects are under way. We supervised the construction of one of these projects in Abu Dhabi.
We also helped to safeguard the distribution of the country's electricity through our involvement in smart grid cybersecurity.
