Assystem has been present in the UK since 1996 and is supporting the country’s energy transition by providing engineering services and digital solutions and services.

The UK published its Net Zero strategy in 2021, laying out a roadmap that would help it achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. This was followed up by the Energy Security strategy published in early 2022, which aims to achieve energy independence for the country by generating up to 50GW of offshore wind power and 10GW of hydrogen power by 2030, and up to 24GW of additional nuclear power by 2050.

Nuclear power is central to the UK’s energy strategy. In its capacity as the world's second-biggest nuclear engineering company and EDF's Tier 1 engineering partner, Assystem is a leader in the development of new nuclear power in the UK, and in the development of small modular reactors (SMRs). We are part of the Sizewell C Consortium, a group of more than 200 companies committed to making this project a success. We are also a leading provider of engineering services for the Hinkley Point C project, and a strategic partner in the design of the Rolls-Royce Small Modular Reactor.

Assystem also supports the UKAEA's nuclear fusion experiments at Culham, bringing its experience to the programme through its key-player positioning in the ITER project as Architect Engineer.

In addition, Assystem provides innovative solutions for the decommissioning of Sellafield Ltd, the UK's most complex nuclear site, through essential design and safety engineering services.

As well as offering their expertise in nuclear power, Assystem's engineers are supporting the UK’s development of renewable energies by providing design services and methodologies for large-scale submarine cables, and the equipment used to install them.

We are also helping the UK to decarbonise its transport sector. We have been involved in various large-scale transport and infrastructure projects in the UK’s railway industry: railway security consulting for a major British railway player, project management and environmental services for the construction of the Thameslink, among others.

Our teams also provide engineering and digital services to the UK defence sector, through support to the country’s naval nuclear programme.

Lastly, our risk management subsidiary CRA is one of the UK’s largest integrated consultancy firms for human, security, and risk factors, supporting major projects throughout the world.
