Assystem in India

To meet India’s high energy demands and reduce its carbon emissions while ensuring its energy independence, the Indian government seeks to triple the size of its nuclear fleet. To do so, the nuclear power generation capacity will have to increase from 7GW in 2022 to 25GW in 2040. India is also turning to renewable energies to massively increase its low-carbon electricity generation capacity.

Assystem has already participated in numerous projects in India, such as the preliminary studies of the future EPR nuclear reactors, and the management of a major hydropower project in Kashmir.

India’s railway network is one of the biggest in the world, representing a great opportunity to reduce the country’s carbon footprint. The Indian government is aiming to decarbonise and electrify the entire network by 2030. Furthermore, a national plan has been established to connect major cities by high-speed train in northern, western, and southern India. Assystem is supporting India’s railway development ambitions, carrying out multiple infrastructure projects for the development of travel by train.

Assystem currently employs more than 1,500 engineers who are supporting the country’s industrial players in various business sectors such as transport, urban development, low-carbon energy, industrial buildings, and facilities. Headquartered in Delhi and with 7 regional offices, Assystem is present throughout India.

To support Assystem's rapid growth ambition in the country and following the acquisition of STUP (in 2021) and L&T Infrastructure Engineering Limited (in 2024), Assystem has brought together all its India-based businesses under the single Assystem in India brand since 2025. In parallel, Assystem retains its subsidiary RELSAFE, an international nuclear safety consultancy acquired at the end of 2023.
