Job Description

  • The Thermal Design Engineer – Mechanical is a critical role within our organization, requiring extensive expertise in thermal design for power projects and related fields. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
  • Demonstrate exceptional proficiency in design concepts and hands-on engineering experience for thermal design in power projects or similar fields. This expertise is crucial for the successful execution of complex engineering tasks.
  • Lead the thermal design and engineering of Natural Draft Cooling Towers (NDCT) and Induced Draught Cooling Towers (IDCT), ensuring optimal performance and efficiency in all projects undertaken.
  • Conduct precise sizing of chimney flues and perform comprehensive draft calculations, adhering to the highest standards of accuracy and safety.
  • Utilize extensive experience in design optimization, preparation of General Arrangement (GA) drawings, engineering scheduling, and detailed engineering. Oversee and ensure the fulfilment of Performance Guarantees, a critical aspect of project success.
  • Rigorously ensure that all designs meet and exceed relevant industry standards and regulations, maintaining our commitment to excellence and compliance.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of IS codes and standards, as well as American, British, and European codes of practice, to both domestic and international projects. This expertise is essential for maintaining our global competitiveness.
  • Conduct thorough reviews across multiple projects, leveraging your experience to identify potential issues and implement improvements.
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in thermal analysis tools, coupled with a robust understanding of heat transfer principles. These skills are fundamental to the role and critical for project success.

My profile

  • The successful candidate for this critical role must possess exceptional leadership qualities and demonstrate a proven track record as a Reviewer or Lead Engineer in multi-disciplinary engineering  projects. It is imperative that the individual be capable of guiding multiple teams, resolving site and interdisciplinary issues, and effectively managing customer interfaces.
  • Educational requirements are stringent: a minimum of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Thermal Engineering is essential. This academic foundation must be complemented by extensive practical experience, with 08-12 years in relevant fields being mandatory.
  • The complexity and importance of this position demand a candidate who can bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to bear on challenging engineering problems. The ability to work under pressure, maintain high standards of accuracy, and drive projects to successful completion is paramount.
  • Candidates must be prepared to undergo a rigorous selection process to ensure they meet the exacting standards required for this pivotal role within our organisation.
