We are also supporting the modernisation and development of energy grids, managing the setup and siting for new transmission and distribution networks, and using hydrogen to decarbonise the transport and industry sectors.


Job Description

Position Overview: Assystem seeks a qualified Sustainability Certification Manager to oversee the integration and management of sustainability certification requirements for a project, in alignment with DDC’s sustainability targets. The ideal candidate will work closely with design consultants, architects, engineers, and construction contractors to ensure compliance with certification requirements and sustainability goals. In addition, the individual will coordinate and manage the collection of documentation, evidence submission, and support for achieving sustainability certifications, including developing post-occupancy performance plans.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Coordination:

    • Work closely with the project team (architects, engineers, contractors) to ensure integration of sustainability certification requirements into all design and construction phases.
    • Propose, discuss, and agree on alternative certification pathways with certifying bodies.
    • Provide regular progress updates, reports, and recommendations to ensure the client is informed of certification status.
  2. Deliverables Review:

    • Review design and construction deliverables for compliance with sustainability certification requirements and targets, providing feedback for improvements where necessary.
  3. Documentation Management:

    • Develop a comprehensive list of all required evidence to fulfill targeted certification credits.
    • Oversee the collection, organization, storage, and submission of documentation for certification.
    • Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure all documentation and submissions meet the standards of certification bodies.
    • Track overall alignment with certification requirements, KPIs, and evidence submission progress.
    • Prepare, or collaborate with the client to prepare, certification evidence attributable to the client’s remit or operations.
  4. Credit Analysis:

    • Analyze sustainability certification credits to identify applicable credits and prerequisites for the project.
    • Propose strategies to achieve desired credits and optimize project performance, including evaluating alternative certification pathways.
  5. Sustainability Advice:

    • Provide guidance and clarifications on certification schemes, addressing ongoing interpretation questions.
    • Advise on sustainable design and construction practices, materials, and technologies to achieve certification goals and KPIs.
  6. Certification Submission:

    • Complete necessary certification registration processes and documentation.
    • Prepare and submit the certification application along with supporting documentation to certifying bodies.
    • Address reviewer comments and provide additional information to facilitate certification approval.
    • Act as the primary point of contact with certification bodies for management, coordination, clarifications, documentation submissions, and any other related matters.
  7. Performance Reporting:

    • Develop a plan for post-occupancy performance monitoring and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a qualified Mostadam Accredited Professional (AP) with significant experience in sustainability certification.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ideally, the candidate should also be a WELL Accredited Professional (AP).
  • Experience in managing sustainability certification processes, including documentation submission, credit analysis, and compliance tracking.

Additional Requirements:

  • The role can be performed remotely during the design stage but may require site visits during the gathering of construction evidence.
  • The role can be performed by one or more individuals and will be compensated on a time and expense basis, with total time billed not exceeding one full-time equivalent (FTE).
  • Full CV and associated daily/monthly rates should be provided.

Delivery and Experience Expectations:

  • The selected candidate should demonstrate a thorough understanding of sustainability targets and certifications and be able to manage the process from design through post-occupancy performance reporting.

 **Security clearance**

This role requires the successful candidate to hold a minimum of a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance.

Due to the nature of work this role will be delivering and for the protection of certain assets, the successful candidate has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non-ITAR country.
