Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Urban Planner/Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have more than 10 years of experience working on large-scale multidisciplinary urban development projects in the GCC region, including Saudi Arabia. This role requires expertise in strategic urban planning, transit-oriented developments (TODs), and a strong ability to deliver pre-concept, concept, and detailed master plans. 

The candidate must have a solid understanding of international urban planning and design standards, local authority regulations, and the ability to create innovative, sustainable, and technically sound solutions. Additionally, the role demands strong visualization skills, technical detailing ability, and the capacity to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional results. 

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation of strategic, pre-concept, concept, and detailed masterplans for large-scale multidisciplinary projects.
  • Utilize urban planning and land management tools to develop innovative and sustainable urban growth strategies.
  • Develop urban planning guidelines, codes, and development control regulations (DCRs) for various projects.
  • Deliver creative and technically robust urban layouts, streetscapes, and public realm designs.
  • Create high-quality visualizations, 3D models, and technical detailing using industry-standard tools such as Lumion, SketchUp, and Rhino.
  • Leverage GIS software, such as ArcGIS, for spatial analysis and land-use planning.
  • Use CAD tools like AutoCAD and Civil 3D to produce detailed technical drawings.
  • Apply advanced visualization and rendering software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Revit, Enscape, and Twinmotion, to present cutting-edge designs.
  • Ensure compliance with international design standards and local authority guidelines.
  • Collaborate with other consulting disciplines, such as sustainability, transport, and infrastructure, to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Coordinate and support the workload of the planning team, ensuring efficient project delivery.
  • Engage with clients, government authorities, and key stakeholders to align project goals and objectives.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, workshops, and reports to communicate design ideas effectively and gain approvals.
  • Support the preparation of proposals and bid submissions to secure new projects.
  • Proactively promote the current and future offerings of the planning team across the region.

Experience: 

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in urban planning and design, with significant project experience in the GCC region and Saudi Arabia.
  • Proven expertise in large-scale master planning, transit-oriented developments (TODs), and urban growth strategies.
  • Strong understanding of urban and land management tools, including best practices for planning and design.
  • Proficiency in tools such as:
    • GIS & Analysis: ArcGIS, QGIS
    • CAD & Drafting: AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D
    • 3D Modeling & Visualization: Lumion, SketchUp, Rhino, Enscape, Twinmotion
    • Graphic Communication: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
    • Presentation: Microsoft PowerPoint, Keynote
    • Project Management: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project)
  • Advanced visualization skills, with the ability to produce compelling 3D renderings and animations.
  • Experience with international codes and standards (e.g., LEED, AASHTO, IBC) and local authority regulations (e.g., MOMRA, ADA).

  • A desire to grow professionally and continuously improve the quality of work.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Arabic (mandatory).

My profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, or a related field. 
  • A Master’s degree or equivalent qualification is highly desirable. 
  • -Urban Planning Professional Certification (e.g., RTPI or AICP) is a plus.
