Job Description
🚀 The Job Mission
We are seeking Senior Simulation and Assessment Engineers to lead and deliver high-impact projects, supporting both new-build nuclear plants and life extension programmes for existing infrastructure. As a Senior Engineer, you’ll ensure the safety, integrity, and performance of critical systems.
⚡️ Provide structural integrity assessments using Finite Element Analysis and hand calculations.
⚡️ Support customer safety cases through robust technical substantiation.
⚡️ Lead internal calculation reviews and represent Assystem at external technical meetings.
⚡️ Mentor and supervise junior staff, including technical reviews and approvals.
⚡️ Deliver projects within agreed budgets and deadlines.
⚡️ Support business growth by contributing to proposals, bids, and customer engagement.
⚡️ Ensure compliance with Assystem’s quality assurance processes and standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills:
🛠 Degree in engineering or equivalent, with significant experience in structural integrity assessments.
🛠 Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or commitment to achieve it.
🛠 Leadership experience in mentoring, supervising, and approving technical work.
🛠 Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis tools such as ANSYS or ABAQUS, and pressure vessel codes (e.g., ASME, BS7910, R6).
🛠 Strong technical communication skills and proven experience in customer-facing roles.
🛠 Comprehensive knowledge of material behaviour, inspection methods, and manufacturing processes.
Desired Skills:
✔️ Experience in regulated industries (nuclear, defence, aerospace, etc.).
✔️ Expertise in customer-specific methodologies (e.g., R3, R5, API-579).
✔️ Familiarity with Altair Hyperworks or equivalent pre/post tools.
✔️ Knowledge of fatigue and degradation mechanisms, including environmental fatigue.
✔️ Code assessment to international pressure vessel codes (e.g., ASME B&PVC, PD5500), high integrity lifting (e.g., BS2573, BS EN 13001), BS5950 or Eurocodes, API-579, R6, BS7910 (fracture assessments), BS7608 (fatigue), and offshore codes (e.g., DNVGL, NORSOK).
✔️ Demonstrated ability to integrate structural integrity assessments with CFD and dynamic analysis.
