Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Plumbing & Fire Fighting Engineer to lead the design, coordination, and execution of plumbing and fire protection systems for diverse projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in both plumbing and fire fighting systems, knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, IPC, local regulations), and experience guiding project teams to successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design & Engineering

   • Lead the design and development of plumbing and fire fighting systems, including water supply, drainage, sprinkler systems, hydrants, and suppression systems.
   • Prepare design calculations, equipment selection, and system layouts, ensuring compliance with local and international codes and standards (NFPA, IPC, etc.).

2. Project Management

   • Oversee and manage multiple projects simultaneously, from concept through commissioning.
   • Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, mechanical/electrical engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions.
   • Create project schedules, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion.

3. Technical Oversight & Quality Assurance

   • Review and approve drawings, BOQs, and specifications prepared by junior engineers or drafting teams.
   • Conduct regular quality checks, site inspections, and testing to ensure that installation and construction activities meet design specifications.

4. Compliance & Documentation

   • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and industry best practices.
   • Prepare and submit technical reports, compliance documents, and project documentation to internal teams and regulatory bodies.

5. Mentorship & Team Leadership

   • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and BIM/modeling teams.
   • Conduct training sessions and knowledge-sharing workshops to foster team development.

6. Stakeholder Engagement

   • Collaborate with clients, consultants, and vendors to address project requirements, resolve technical issues, and provide design clarifications.
   • Participate in client meetings, project reviews, and value engineering discussions.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field (mandatory).
  • Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline (preferred).

• Experience:

  • 7–12 years of proven experience in designing and managing plumbing and fire fighting systems for commercial, residential, or industrial projects.
  • Demonstrable track record of successfully completed medium to large-scale projects.

• Technical Expertise:

  • Thorough understanding of plumbing and fire protection design principles, hydraulic calculations, and water supply/distribution networks.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and hydraulic calculation tools).
  • In-depth knowledge of NFPA, IPC, and local building codes/regulations.

• Soft Skills:

  • Strong leadership and project management capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving approach.

• Certifications (Preferred):

  • Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), or equivalent.
  • NFPA or other relevant fire protection certifications.
