🚀 Join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit! 🚀 Assystem has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our expanding Fusion and Modular Nuclear (FMN) business unit. As leaders in the design and development of new technologies, you will have the opportunity to work across multiple cutting-edge projects developing technical solutions making net-zero power generation a reality.

Your mission:

  • 🌟 Take the Helm: Lead assigned project tasks, managing and planning for a dynamic team of engineers while coordinating with project management.
  • 🛠️ Innovate & Create: Develop high-quality engineering solutions across a broad range of topics and activities.
  • 📢 Communicate Brilliance: Provide feedback on technical development and project delivery to the Lead Engineer and Project Manager.
  • 🏆 Team Leadership: Guide small teams of engineers in delivering key project tasks.
  • 🌱 Mentor & Guide: Offer technical guidance and mentorship to team members, especially junior or graduate engineers.
  • ⏱️ Master Your Time: Efficiently manage your time to deliver within agreed timescales, target costs, and quality standards with minimal supervision.

My profile

  • 📜 Education: Minimum 2:1 BEng in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent); a Master’s degree is a plus!
  • 🏗️ Experience: Proven engineering experience in highly regulated areas.
  • 📐 Standards Savvy: Familiarity with design codes like Eurocode 3, ASME III, ASME VIII, RCC-M, DNV codes.
  • 💻 Software Skills: Experience with Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and/or Catia CAD software (training available).
  • 🔍 Analysis Expertise: Familiarity with FEA and preferably experience with ANSYS Workbench.
  • 📊 Math Whiz: Strong mathematical background and experience with MathCAD is desirable.
  • 🔄 Design Cycle Insight: Appreciation for the mechanical design cycle from concept to manufacture.
  • 📝 Hands-On: Responsible for producing mechanical and structural engineering calculations, FEA, CAD, and drawings.

🔍 Additional Information:

  • 🛡️ Security: BPSS and SC required.
  • ✈️ Travel Ready: Ability to travel to Assystem offices and customer sites within the UK.
  • 🌍 Global Impact: Support major UK and international Nuclear Clients with key work packages.
