Job Description

🚀 The Job Mission:

As a Senior Civil Engineer – Reinforced Concrete, you will play a key role in ensuring the integrity of critical nuclear structures within the Sizewell C project. Your future team will rely on your expertise to oversee technical issues, ensure regulatory compliance, and uphold the highest engineering standards. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring design requirements are met and effectively managing technical risks.
  • Reviewing and approving reinforced/prestressed concrete design packages, including calculations and substantiation reports.
  • Providing high-level assurance of nuclear civil engineering designs.
  • Supporting and defending the nuclear safety case substantiation process.
  • Managing compliance with CDM 2015 regulations as a Principal Designer.
  • Coordinating with multiple stakeholders to align design objectives and safety requirements.

 

My profile

🛠 Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in reinforced/prestressed concrete design, preferably in the nuclear sector.
  • Strong background in seismic engineering and high-hazard design (e.g., blast, fire, tornado).
  • Proficiency in FEA modelling using ROBOT, Ansys, or RSTAB.
  • Chartered Civil/Structural Engineer status.
  • Experience working on large-scale design projects within a regulated environment.
  • Strong understanding of CDM 2015 and its application in civil engineering.
  • UK-based and eligible to work in the UK.

✔️ Desired Skills:

  • Experience in client-side roles, ensuring high-level engineering assurance.
  • Knowledge of nuclear safety cases and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience using Revit for digital civil engineering design.
  • Familiarity with Navisworks for project coordination.
  • Previous experience in major UK nuclear projects.
