Job Description

Assystem are establishing an ultrasonic testing capability in the UK, initially to support our client on Hinkley Point C, and will extend this independent validation and equipment qualification service across our UK new build programmes.

 

The inspection scope will independently detect any defects that could compromise the structural integrity of components during the plant’s lifetime, and will help our client satisfy the UK nuclear regulator’s requirements on inspection qualification.

 

We are looking for inspectors from an engineering background to embed with our client to undertake end of manufacture inspections at the fabricator’s sites for components being built for the project, and also deploy to site at Hinkley Point C when required to inspect works being undertaken on the workface.

My profile

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years of UT weld inspection experience.
  • Degree Qualified Mech Engineer.
  • EN ISO 9712 certification scheme qualified (preferably PCN or CSWIP)
  • UT inspectors in 3.7,3.8 and 3.9 categories of weld configuration.
  • Experience in structural welds, site-based is required.
  • Petro-chem, nuclear or pharma experience.
  • UK National or with current Right to Work in the UK.

 

  • Desirable
  • Knowledge of EN ISO 17640 and EN ISO 11666 standards.
  • UT 3.1 & 3.2
  • MT (magnetic) certification also.
  • Experience in reviewing the ultrasonic procedures and equipment of third parties, and evaluating the operators being used on a fabricator’s site.
