Job Description

We are looking for a qualified Health and Safety professional to be our Industrial Safety Advisor.

As a Pre-operations Industrial Safety Advisor, you’ll be supporting the development and delivery of the Industrial Safety Management Arrangements for the Hinkley Point C operational site.

In this role you will help establish and promote the safety culture for the operational phase of HPC.  You’ll liaise with the Construction Health and Safety Team to ensure a smooth transition from construction to operational arrangements.

What you’ll be doing…

As our next Industrial Safety Advisor, you’ll play a pivotal role in guiding our training team, ensuring that every member of our operational site receives comprehensive training on industrial safety topics. Your expertise will be instrumental in equipping our organisation with the knowledge and skills needed to prioritise safety. Other responsibilities in this role will also include:

  • Developing and maintaining an effective collaborative working relationship with the HPC construction site and Nuclear Generation Industrial Safety Team.
  • Supporting the development of the industrial safety procedures for the operational site.
  • Working collaboratively with all departments to support the development of the safety arrangements for management of work for Pre-Operations during construction, through commissioning and into operations.
  • Providing industrial safety advice from an operational station’s perspective to teams designing facilities and equipment.
  • Supporting the creation of a strong safety culture for the operational site.

With a solid understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and a track record of implementing effective safety arrangements, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure workplace environment. Bring your passion for safety and make a difference in ensuring the well-being of our team. You’ll also bring to this role the following:

  • Experience participating in, or leading industrial health and safety continual improvement projects / initiatives.
  • Experience developing and implementing management system policies, procedures and processes.
  • Familiar with working in a high hazard industry such as nuclear, utilities, oil & gas, chemical, construction, manufacturing.
  • Ability to communicate clearly at all levels of the organisation, both verbally and through written reports.
  • Certified Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, working towards Chartership
  • Experience of carrying out audits and investigations.
  • A NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent is essential

Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK BPSS security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum BPSS level.
