Job Description
Your Team & Role Overview
Join a dynamic team driving safety excellence in construction, civil engineering, marine, and defence sectors. This role is perfect for a seasoned professional passionate about managing complex, multi-stakeholder environments and fostering a culture of safety.
Key Responsibilities
🚦 Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure adherence to CDM 2015 and other health & safety regulations.
- Act as a key advisor to senior leadership and project teams.
- Uphold statutory and organizational H&S policies.
📜 Policy & Best Practice
- Create, review, and update H&S policies.
- Promote continuous improvement and best practices.
- Align policies with project-specific needs.
⚠️ Risk Management
- Review contractor and designer risk assessments/method statements.
- Identify hazards and implement robust risk controls.
- Collaborate with Principal Contractors/Designers throughout project phases.
🧑🏫 Training & Culture
- Develop and deliver tailored safety training.
- Drive a positive safety culture via workshops and engagement.
📋 Auditing & Monitoring
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits.
- Address non-conformances and ensure timely resolution.
🔍 Incident Investigation
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses.
- Prepare reports and share lessons learned.
🤝 Stakeholder Collaboration
- Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and regulators.
- Build strong relationships with Facility Operators and stakeholders.
🏗️ Programme Support
- Provide expert advice across all project stages: preconstruction to handover.
- Oversee Principal Contractor compliance with regulations.
💡 Learning from Experience (LfE)
- Capture and share lessons learned to drive continuous improvement.

Essential Skills & Experience
🚧 H&S Management Expertise: 10+ years in construction, civil engineering, marine, or defence sectors, covering all project stages.
📜 Regulatory Knowledge: Strong grasp of CDM Regulations and related laws.
🎓 Qualifications:
- Required: NEBOSH, HNC/HND, or Degree.
- Desirable: IOSH/IIRSM membership.
🌟 Leadership: Inspire and foster a top-tier safety culture.
🗣️ Communication: Engage with all levels and chair H&S meetings effectively.
📊 Organisational Skills: Manage multiple priorities and drive innovative H&S improvements.
✅ Proven Track Record: Deliver measurable, forward-thinking safety solutions.
Desirable Skills & Experience
⚛️ Regulated Industry: Experience in Nuclear or highly regulated environments.
🎖️ MoD Experience: Background working within MoD estates is a plus.
🌍 Environmental Knowledge: Familiarity with environmental aspects of HSQE.

Security clearance:
Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
