Job Description

We are looking for candidates with a passion for town planning and a demonstrable commitment to the profession and your career development. As a Graduate Town Planner you’ll assist on various infrastructure projects and large planning applications, gaining valuable hands-on experience and exposure to different aspects of the planning process.

Key responsibilities include:

• Planning Application Management – Supporting senior planners with site appraisals, planning applications and general consent management activities
• Documentation and Reporting – Assisting in the preparation of written reports and documentation for consent and town planning submissions, monitoring submissions and providing updates to the project team.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Supporting and building relationships with key project stakeholders and statutory bodies
• Team Collaboration: Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to share knowledge, provide guidance on consent-related matters, and foster a culture of collaboration and excellence  
• Project Support: Supporting colleagues with document management and administrative tasks such as collating materials, proof reading, minute taking.

Essential:

• An RTPI-accredited degree in Town Planning or a related field

Desirable:

• Related Masters or Postgraduate Diploma
• Work Experience: Experience working in town planning, infrastructure projects, office administration or similar.
• Interpersonal Skills: Strong relationship-building skills to foster trust and collaboration with various stakeholders.
• Technical Writing: Proficiency in writing clear and concise reports, proposals, and policy documents that communicate complex ideas effectively.
• Problem solving: Ability to break down issues into manageable components, evaluate options, and develop effective solutions.

Requirements for Assystem Graduate Scheme:

• Successful Candidate must be a UK Sole National
• Successful Candidate must be willing to relocate as part of their rotational Scheme (Relocation Support available) 

Security Clearance:

The successful applicant must be a UK resident and, due to the nature of the work to be undertaken, applicants will be required to meet this criteria in order to attain a minimum level of BPSS clearance.
