Finding solutions to climate change is the priority of the 21st century, and means switching to low-carbon energy. At Assystem, our mission is to accelerate the energy transition worldwide. To achieve this, our 7,500 Switchers combine their historical engineering expertise and project management with digital technologies.


In our 12 countries (Europe, Middle East, Asia) of operation, we are working on the production and distribution of low-carbon electricity, through the development of nuclear and renewable energies. We are also supporting the modernisation and development of energy grids, managing the setup and siting for new transmission and distribution networks, and using hydrogen to decarbonise the transport and industry sectors.


Job Description

About our Graduate Programme:

As a graduate at Assystem, from Day 1 you will be welcomed to the Assystem family, we will focus on getting you up to speed on what we do, our values, and what you can look forward to on our 2-year experience. You will have the opportunity to work with customers on live projects, bring value from the start and learn new skills.

As part of the programme, you will have access to Mentors, benefit from peer-to-peer learning through our Graduate Forums, identify and develop skills through our upskilling framework, and the opportunity to work across different industries and customers.

Job Description:

Our work sees us supporting a range of sectors and industries including Nuclear, Defence, Transport, Utilities and Government. You could work on projects such as New Build Nuclear Power Stations, Defence Submarines, control room designs and organisational security assessments.

As part of our Human and Organisation Factors (HOF) team, you will be supported and mentored as you gain experience in deploying a range of HF methodologies including

  • Task analysis
  • Human Machine Interface (HMI) design,
  • Human error analysis,
  • Control room design,
  • Workload assessment,
  • Safety critical task assessment,

My profile

Essential:

  • BSc in Human Factors Engineering, Engineering Psychology, Usability, Ergonomics, Design, Engineering, Human Biology, Anthropology, or a related field
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong problem solving ability
  • High level of IT proficiency, computer literacy, MS Office Suite
  • Ability to think intuitively and creatively
  • Good written output and presentation skills

Desirable:

  • A passion for human-centric design and organisational culture
  • Understanding / appreciation of human error prediction techniques
  • Experience in presenting HOF or other recommendations to internal and external stakeholders
  • A keen interest in design and make projects
  • Ability to apply mathematical principles and statistics to solve problems
  • Technical and problem-solving skills along with reasoning ability
  • Comfortable with site-based working, when required for projects
  • Knowledge / appreciation of Human Factors assessment techniques
  • Enthusiasm to develop your Human Factors skillset and to challenge yourself.

Requirements for Assystem Graduate Scheme:

  • Successful Candidate must be a UK Sole National
  • Successful Candidate must be willing to relocate as part of their rotational Scheme (Relocation Support available) 

Security Clearance:

The successful applicant must be a UK resident and, due to the nature of the work to be undertaken, applicants will be required to meet this criteria in order to attain a minimum level of BPSS clearance.
