Job Description

Your future team:

The successful EC&I Engineer will join our Defence Business Unit, from ensuring project efficiency to implementing advanced digital solutions, Assystem supports the UK’s defense efforts while advancing sustainable energy solutions.

Your missions:

Delivering technical solutions that satisfy client requirements in EC&I engineering while demonstrating a sound understanding of relevant standards, regulations, codes, and directives. 

🔹 Design Support: Support technical solutions at design reviews.

🔹 Environmental Awareness: Consider environmental impact throughout the design process.

🔹 Team Supervision: Supervise junior engineers, graduates, or draughtsmen on low complexity work packages.

🔹 Technical Limits: Recognise the limits of your technical understanding and seek direction when required.

🔹 Risk Mitigation: Identify, assess, and mitigate design risks throughout the design/product lifecycle.

🔹 Tender Support: Support technical design proposals as part of the tendering process.

🔹 Installation Impact: Be aware of the implications of engineering design risks to installation and commissioning

🔹 Project Awareness: Maintain commercial and project awareness, accurately estimating time to complete tasks.

🔹 Change Control: Understand and implement change control for scope changes.

My profile

Experience Required:

Essential

🔹 Knowledge of engineering fundamentals for Electrical, Control, and Instrumentation, Safety systems, with general experience across the EC&I discipline.

🔹 Experience with plant and documentation configuration management.

🔹 Understanding of BS7671 and low voltage directive.

🔹 Proficiency with CAE tools used in the EC&I design process.

🔹 Competence in a wide range of computer packages, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Database, Outlook, and Project.

🔹 Completion of a relevant and recognised Industry apprenticeship or Graduate Trainee scheme.

🔹 Experience delivering optioneering studies through to detailed design packages for clients within highly regulated industries.

Desirable:

🔹 Basic experience and understanding of delegation, motivation, effective communication at all levels, objective setting, dealing with other people, and teamwork.

🔹 Ability to work and manage within virtual teams.

🔹 Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks, or SEE Electrical.

🔹 Some understanding of Functional Safety (BS EN 61508, BS EN 61511), but not essential.

🔹 Nuclear industry experience.

Qualifications:

Essential:

🔹 A degree in a relevant engineering discipline (generally Electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering) or HNC/HND with substantial relevant professional experience.

Desirable:

🔹 Professional Registration and Institute Membership.

🔹 Membership of a relevant professional institution (typically IET) or in the process of applying for membership.

 

  • Able to Achieve SC clearance.
