Job Description
Assystem are recruiting for a number of Consents Managers at Consultant and Senior Consultant level to join our growing Environment, Engagement and Consents (ECE) Practice to provide our clients with a range of consent management services for major infrastructure projects. The roles will be based across London, South East and East Anglia and offer a hybrid working pattern with 2-3 days on our clients sites and the rest from home.
As Consents Manager you’ll support many aspects of project development, including supporting and leading internal and external stakeholders in delivering and maintaining the necessary consents in accordance with relevant environmental and planning legislation for various projects.
Duties & Responsibilities:
🔖 Consents Management: Responsibility for supporting or leading the management of consents and approvals for infrastructure projects, which may involve consents application preparation.
⚖️ Compliance: Stay abreast of regulatory requirements, environmental standards, and planning regulations to ensure adherence throughout the project lifecycle.
🤝 Stakeholder Engagement: Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with key project stakeholders and statutory bodies through ongoing engagement to successfully deliver consents.
📑 Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of consents, permits, and approvals, and prepare reports (as required by the client) to support project documentation and compliance requirements.
🛠️ Project Coordination: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate consent requirements into project plans and schedules, ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines.
👥 Team Collaboration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to share knowledge, provide guidance on consent-related matters, and foster a culture of collaboration and excellence.
👩💼 Team Leadership (Senior Consultant): Lead a team to deliver high-quality outputs and solutions covering a broad range of consents and engagement activities.
My profile
Skills & Experience:
⚡ Proven experience in consents management, environmental permitting, or regulatory compliance within the infrastructure sector. We particularly seek candidates with experience and understanding of the DCO (Development Consent Order) Process but also welcome those with TWAO or Hybrid Bill experience.
⚡ Project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage competing deadlines, and coordinate activities across multiple projects.
⚡ Strong understanding of either planning regulations, environmental legislation, or land rights and regulatory frameworks relevant to infrastructure projects.
⚡ Excellent interpersonal skills.
⚡ Evidence of success in forming and maintaining working relationships in a multi-disciplinary environment.
⚡ Good negotiation/collaboration skills to ensure full support within the framework.
⚡ Ability to work independently and as part of a team, leading where required.
⚡ Up to date with the latest developments in Professional Competence.

Qualifications:
🎓 Relevant degrees that provide a solid foundation (e.g. Town Planning (or similar), Law, Geography, Environmental Science or Management, Construction, Engineering, Project Management, etc.)
📜 Chartered status (or equivalent) or interested in achieving Chartered status and membership of a relevant professional institution (i.e. RTPI, RICS, CIPR, IEMA, etc.)
