Job Description

You future team:

Multiple work packages form the Dock Readiness project. This role is part of the Engineering Team delivering designs for each of these work packages.

Your mission:

The primary purpose of this role is to assist and support the Design Manager in delivering project scope, focusing on infrastructure upgrades of a dry dock. This will include the following:

🔧 Responsibilities:

• 🏗️ Undertake the delivery of structural engineering activities to the required scope, quality, schedule, and cost.

• 🛠️ Responsible for technical aspects of the structural engineering work packages, from identification of the need through to handover.

• 📐 Undertake technical delivery of one or more design packages as directed by the Principal Civil & Structural Engineer.

• 📋 Ensure design documentation covers the scope of operations required by the Project Manager and is produced to agreed standards, schedule, and budget.

• 🗂️ Plan for effective project implementation.

• 📏 Ensure effective Quality Management Arrangements, delivering through compliance with the Client’s Business Management System and Technical Manual.

• 📝 Support documentation processes and maintain appropriate records with quality controls applied.

• ⚠️ Support staff and contractors in understanding the hazards and risks associated with the work through effective risk assessment management and communication.

This is a support role, focused on working within the team to provide solutions.

My profile

Experience:

• 💼 Ideally 2-4 years of experience required.

• ✏️ Producing specifications

• 📑 Detailed design reports

• 🤝 Working within the team to provide solutions with our Outsource partners

• 🔄 Defining pumping and pipework

Beneficial Skills:

• ☢️ Nuclear experience

• 📦 Experience with Control Cabinets, Connection Boxes, and Cable Routing

• 🎓 Engineering degree

• 🚰 Mechanical services (pumping/pipework)

• 💻 Autodesk Vault / Navisworks

• 🌟 Preferably working towards Chartered Engineer status and membership in a relevant institute.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• 🏗️ Have experience in the design of heavy civil engineering and building structures to relevant codes, preferably including seismic codes.

• 🏢 Have knowledge of architectural design of industrial buildings.

• 🔌 Have knowledge of building services design and installation.

• 🚧 Have knowledge of construction techniques employed in structures.

• 📚 Demonstrate relevant knowledge and skills required in technical design development.

• 🔧 Have a sound understanding of engineering design and safety practices relevant to discipline, post, and project requirements.

• 💻 Have a working knowledge of relevant engineering computer applications.

SC clearance required but can start on baseline (SC clearable)

Mainly remote – very occasional site visits
