Job Description
Area Engineering Manager
Warrington
Permanent / Contract
The AEM will be required to:
>Lead the development of the Engineering and Technical planning for the establishment of the project (delivery of scope to Gate 1). The team at this stage is likely to include a AEM (this role), Lead Mechanical and Lead Process.
>Lead the delivery of the Engineering and Technical plans to:
-Identify and agree the specification for the project with the client
-Develop Technological Readiness Level (TRL) to required maturity
-Identify the Single Preferred Option for delivering the solution to the client requirements
-Plan for the onward delivery of the project
You will need to Lead and direct a multi-disciplinary engineering Team to:
- Identify the feasibility of the approach
- Develop an outline requirement specification
- Identify the TRL levels and associated development plans to deliver a viable solution
- Prepare a plan for the delivery of the appraise and select phase of the project. Deliver to the agreed time, cost and quality.
- AEM leading the multidiscipline teams, responsible for estimating, scheduling, forecasting and the production of the agreed design deliverables.
- Management of the DSA teams in production of deliverables
- Development of the safety case(s), including attendance at HAZOPs, support to safety assessment, review of ES, production of substantiation documentation.
- Resource identification of additional resource demand where required to ensure all deliverables can be originated and checked in accordance with the project schedule dates
- Interfacing with other Project Discipline leads within the project(s)
- Interfacing and engagement with Site clients and stakeholders.

Essential Experience & Qualifications
Higher Education Qualification in Engineering (or Equivalent) subject
Minimum – HNC
Preferred – M Eng.
Appropriate (Engineering or Scientific) Institution Membership.
Minimum – Incorporated Engineer
Preferred – Chartered Engineer
Background engineering experience demonstrating a record of successful delivery including recent positions influencing professional engineers and guiding technical personnel.
Minimum requirement:– Significant experience working in an engineering design environment in roles where knowledge of engineering was a key attribute. Recent experience working within a regulated and quality assured system (preferably nuclear) in roles where professional engineering judgement is the key attribute.
Knowledge and understanding of governing laws, regulations and standards for nuclear industry (equivalnce from other industries will be considered):
Health & Safety at Work Act and various Regulations including The Construction (design and management) Regulations 2015, Safety of Machinery, CDM, LOLER, Pressure Systems, DSEAR, Ionising Radiation.
Identification of Technological readiness levels and development of technology development plans.
Desirable Experience & Qualifications / Additional information (e.g. Radiological Status Requirements)
Delivery of Project Scope on Sellafield Site
INCOSE ASEP /CSEP certification and associated delivery experience
Demonstrate an understanding of contract NEC3 terms and condition
Base knowledge of Safety Case structure, related safety and engineering practices.
Able to deliver he CDM Principal Designer Duty Holder Role
A good understanding of the delivery of Programmable Electronic Systems within the Nuclear Industry
