Assystem has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P) in Morocco that aims to facilitate the country’s drive to decarbonise their energy system.

Nuclear power is under consideration in Morocco, and in anticipation of a civil nuclear programme, institutions such as UM6P are taking steps to cultivate the training and engineering leaders that will nurture a new and innovative nuclear sector.

Knowledge transfer and skills development is critical to a country’s ability to transform its energy infrastructure.  This new partnership will not only facilitate the sharing of high value research work already underway at UM6P, but integrate the expertise of Assystem, a world leading nuclear company, into the training programme of Morocco’s future workforce.

UM6P is one of the country’s most prestigious academic institutions and with Assystem’s support they are seeking to offer their trainees strong links into industry that will deliver:

  • Internships for UM6P students with Assystem, delivering practical, hands-on experience in the nuclear field.
  • Specialised training programmes enhancing the skills and capabilities of future engineers.
  • Graduate recruitment.
  • Improved facilitation on the exchange of expertise, knowledge sharing and best practices to drive mutual growth.

Assystem is an advocate of nuclear power as a low-carbon, reliable and secure option for countries looking to decarbonise their energy systems.  With nearly 60 years of expertise in delivering nuclear programmes, Assystem is focused on helping newcomer countries to establish the technical, professional and regulatory environments required to introduce nuclear power to their country’s energy mix.

We are deeply honoured to partner with UM6P, a renowned institution known for its excellence in research, sustainable development, and academic achievements. This collaboration not only strengthens the bond between France and Morocco but also marks a significant step forward in our commitment to fostering education and innovation in the nuclear sector. We are excited about the opportunities this partnership will create for both Assystem and UM6P.
